Beogradski džez festival slavi svoju 40. godišnjicu

Are you ready for this year’s Belgrade Jazz Festival? Naš najstariji i najprestižniji džez događaj proslavlja svoj 40. rođendan i obećava nezaboravno iskustvo koje će okupiti vrhunske muzičare iz celog sveta, kao i poznate domaće umetnike koji su ostavili dubok trag na sceni. Organized by Dom Omladine Beograda, the festival will run from October 24th to 28th, with concerts taking place at two iconic venues: MTS Hall and Dom Omladine Beograda.

The festival kicks off in style with a performance by the Big Band RTS and the legendary conductor and pianist Alan Broadbent. Their program, titled “From Newport to Belgrade,” pays homage to jazz’s illustrious history, featuring original Broadbent arrangements of works by Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, and Charlie Haden.

That same evening, world-renowned jazz vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant will make her Belgrade debut. If you’re a fan of jazz vocals, don’t miss the opportunity to hear a singer who has won three consecutive Grammys for Best Jazz Vocal Album. It promises to be a night to remember!

World-Class Talent at This Year’s Festival

This year’s festival offers a musical journey through various jazz styles and cultures. You’ll be able to enjoy performances by big names such as Anat Cohen Quartetinho, Quartabê, Gianluca Petrella Cosmic Renaissance, James Carter Quintet, Jason Moran, and Rudresh Mahanthappa Hero Trio. Representing the local scene, the Serbian All Starsensemble will pay tribute to Serbian jazz icons in collaboration with the Faculty of Music Arts.

Buena Vista All Stars Closing the Festival

To close this year’s festival in grand style, Buena Vista All Stars will take the stage. This legendary group brings the spirit of Cuba directly to Belgrade with classic compositions from the album “Buena Vista Social Club”. There’s no doubt that their concert will bring smiles and get the audience dancing, as everyone feels the rhythms that only Cuban music can deliver.
