About:

Love is a feeling that inspires and inspires. It gives special strength and makes us able to do what seems impossible at first glance. Our city has always been a city of love. It is for this reason that “A Love Walk in Belgrade” begins with the oldest love story that takes place in our city.

Zagla and Badža, Belgrade’s Romeo and Juliet, as Branislav Nušić called them, had many obstacles, but guided by love, they overcame them with the help of the harem language of courtship. “I know that Jelena, the woman who is not there, can call anywhere and anytime. Just so I don’t stop waiting for her!”. This is how Ivo Andrić writes in the short story “Jelena, the missing woman”. He waited for her patiently and with a lot of love and finally, after 30 years of waiting, he welcomed her.

Branislav Nušić claimed that he had thirteen great loves. He first fell in love with Persa, a girl with yellow socks from the neighborhood, and he married Darinka Đorđević, who elegantly resolved his engagement “ultimatum”. “And when my voice, eyes, and breath calm down, You will, I know, take me on Your wing”. These verses from “Lamentation over Belgrade”, the most beautiful anthem of our city, were found above the headboard of Vidosava Crnjanski, a woman who immensely loved and respected her husband. That love can be born in the most unusual places and in the worst conditions is also shown by the love of Jelisaveta Načić, the first female architect in our country, who met her husband in the “Nežidar” camp during the First World War.

Love is different and multi-layered. We spend 2.5 hours talking about love in all its forms, arranging story after story and taking a leisurely walk through the city center. Love for a partner, family, child, homeland, work…because as our Nobel laureate says: “…love cannot be found where it is not, nor can it be hidden where it is.”
