MENE Erna Paljevac exhibition // Café Šupa 2. VIII – 1. IX

On Friday, August 2 at 8 p.m., the opening of the solo exhibition of the young artist Erna Paljevac will take place. The exhibition “Me” consists of a series of paintings in the tempera technique on paper, created as a result of the painter’s introspective research on the question of personality, its place in the whole and various forces that act on it.

Erna Paljevac follows the motif of personality through portraits and self-portraits in different phases of her existence. These “me” are found in the constellation of elements and energies within a series of realities – starting with the psychic reality of thoughts, feelings, desires and dreams, and ending with the cosmic reality and all the signs acting within it.

The inspiration for this exhibition lies, as the artist herself says, in the 96 laws to which the Moon is subject – 48 laws of the Earth, 24 laws of the planets, 12 laws of the Sun, 6 laws of all stars and 3 laws of all worlds. It is not surprising, then, that psychedelic heavenly bodies and fairy-tale female figures from some parallel world await you at the works of Erna Paljevac.

Each point on the picture represents a star in itself, so that with each completed work a cosmos is born that draws the audience into the world of dreams, illusions and something unknown. Although they share a common theme, no two pictures are exactly the same, and each of them entices its viewers in a special way.

Erna uses tempera as the main technique because she believes that these colors are the most suitable for achieving a psychedelic moment. The pictures are alive, and the series of dots, which create a sense of optical illusion in the audience, stimulate the eye and transfer to an intimate atmosphere in the spirit of Art Nouveau of the early 20th century.
